Making a Ribbon Cutting Newsworthy

There are three things that come to mind when thinking of a ribbon cutting ceremony: the speech, the official ribbon cutting and the photo op. These ceremonies happen all the time and the hope is to earn media coverage. However, they rarely ever do.

We’re happy to share though that it doesn’t have to be that way! In fact, it shouldn’t.

That is exactly what BizCom client School of Rock does as they continue to open multiple schools across the globe.

In true rock ‘n roll fashion, School of Rock owners don’t just cut the ribbon on their new school and call it a day. Instead, they celebrate the opening of a new school with a ceremonial guitar smashing. Talk about a great visual!

What makes it even better is that each grand opening is a head banging good time with live performances and free lessons, it’s no wonder media love to show up and join in on the fun. From a live morning segment with KHOU to a ThisWeeksNEWS online article to social media mentions, we’ve landed it all with this rockin’ client.

Add some sparkle

Last week, international jewelry client Nice & Bella hosted a ribbon cutting for the company’s new U.S. headquarters in downtown Dallas. And what could have simply been a 15-minute ribbon cutting was turned into so much more.

Nice & Bella extended invites to key partners including members of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, representatives from the Mexican Consulate as well as the company’s network of loyal and passionate distributors, taking a typical grand opening to the next level.

And with the showroom set up for the event, the CEO in town from Mexico, it was an opportune time to film a few different segments to air on Univision’s Despierta Dallas.

And taking it a step further, later that day our client spoke with the Dallas Business Journal to share the company’s reason for expanding in the U.S. and choosing Dallas for the headquarters.
